1896

Weightlifting was one of the official events at the first Modern Olympic Games. At that time there were only two events-one-handed lifting and two-handed lifting, and the competition was played in the open field.

1928

Three major items of weightlifting are produced: referral, snatch and jerk.

1972

At the Munich Olympics, there were two cases of illegal drugs in weightlifting competitions for the first time.

1976

At the Montreal Olympics, seven weightlifters were cancelled due to the use of contraband (including three medal-winning players, two of which were world champions).

1984

Los Angeles Olympics detected five cases of illegal drugs.

1988

Five cases of illegal drugs have been reported in the Seoul Olympics weightlifting competition, involving two Bulgarian gold medalists. The Bulgarian weightlifting team withdrew from the Olympic Games.

1992

In order to establish a new mechanism, the International Weightlifting Federation created a new weightlifting competition mode and put it into use for the first time at the Barcelona Olympics.

1998

The International Lifting Federation cancelled all previous weightlifting world records, created clean air for the development of weightlifting, and created a level playing field for all projects.

2000

The men's project was reduced from 10 to 8 and the women's project was launched for the first time, with 7 levels.
